World cybercrime probe unearths 1,000,000 effected users and US$74million in losses The FBI asserts that police in the U.S. And 7 other states have snatched lots of PCs, servers and bank accounts in a world probe of cybercrime rings that caused $74 million in losses to over 1,000,000 PC users. Other states concerned in the operation are Britain, France, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. The FBI announces Operation Trident Tribunal centered criminal networks preying on PC users thru the sale of fake PC security software. The malignant software seems to be bonafide PC security software engineered to note threats. It isn't going away till users supply their Mastercard numbers for valueless software. An indictment unsealed in Fed. court in Minneapolis charges 2 operators with wire crime, conspiracy and PC crime.
